Finding Leaks and Saving Money
In an age of water conservation and saving money, finding all leaks in your pool with a leak detection can save 1,000's on just the water bills alone. Water is the most corrosive thing on earth and dont be surprised that it deteriorates your pool plumbing, heater, pump, plaster, or pipes in and around the pool area. Combine the water with natural earth movements and expansion / contraction of the pool throughout seasons and its easy to see that leaks happen in most pools.
We work with pool home owners about symptoms and observations of the pool, and confirm that the leak is not just evaporation. A "Bucket Test" can be performed to determine how much of the observed water loss is due to evaporation and how much is due to a leak. Other tests such as the "Pump On/Pump Off Test" will provide a useful base of information that will be helpful as you continue the leak detection process.
Your swimming pool can lose some water due to evaporation. Swimming can also take water out of the pool with splashing and swim suits.
The general rule is if your losing more than 1/4-inch during a 24 hour period, you will need to perform a swimming pool leak detection and apply or repair any pool leak repair methods to address any leaks in skimmers, return lines, lights and drains and or cracks in the pool structure or surrounding areas.
